Monae´ Wines is small, minority female-owned, family-operated wine collection based on passion, innovation, independence and respect for the craft.
At Monae´ Wines, our portfolio emulates a deep commitment to making PREMIUM wines. Because of this commitment, we handcraft each wine and each bottle. Remaining authentic and artisanal is who we are.
We allow for long fermentations, often spontaneous blends, and never rush the wines into a bottle. Our small production runs are carefully curated to express balance and terroir.
Essentially, we are a family who is passionate about making inspired wine, working hard, and finding beauty in every experience and opportunity. Dr. Barr’s sincere wish is for Monae’ Wines to create social circles, and enhance meaningful events that grow relationships, foster business ventures and personalize special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Every sip of Monae’ Wines is bursting with Passion, Complexity, Unique Flavor combinations, and most of all Love.
Our wines are pleasing to one’s palate, they’re about “expression”.

Meet The Founder and CEO
DR. MONIQUE MURDOCK-BARR
Dr. Monique Simone Murdock- Barr is blazing a trajectory in the world of winemaking. Monique has done it once again, she is taking her determination and tenacity to the next level launching a wine collection “Monaé Wines” launching a wine collection is no easy feat, especially if you are a woman and a minority.
Like many industries, the wine business has historically been a man’s world. Understanding that the wine industry world hasn’t always been inclusive of Black females, as always we are just trying to catch up or trying to be included. Monique is hoping to do her part with bringing that forward by bridging the gap.
“Starting a business as a black woman requires a lot of gumption. I am blessed to have a loving and supportive husband who encourages me to flourish and nurtures my ideas. Additionally, I am surrounded by an amazing village that stands behind me to catch me when I am weak, walks along side of me to support and encourage me, and walks in front of me to help keep me grounded.”
“You have to have an extreme case of confidence, resilience and thick skin especially breaking into a historically dominated male industry. Nevertheless, there are a few Black female winery and wine line owners who are leading the way. As one of these leaders it is my desire to provide much-needed encouragement and inspiration for the next generation of minority female business owners, also to build generational and community wealth.”
Always a trendsetter Monique honed, in on her winemaking skills and knowledge in Cornell’s Wine Essentials classes. After completing the program, Monique decided to launch,“Monae’ Wines” becoming one of the few certified Black Female winemakers.
